Luke's Birth Family

We decided to share a few pictures of Luke's birth family on the blog. We will share more details of the story when we arrive home. As you can imagine, it was a very moving and emotional experience for all involved. This first picture was taken in the building on the site of Luke's orphanage.

Here is Luke walking hand in hand with his birth father and uncle. The lady in the pink sweatshirt was the interpreter and was highly instrumental in the finding of Luke's birth family. She has only been on staff for a couple months. If we had traveled to Korea to receive Aiden last fall like we had hoped, this reunion most likely would not have been possible. We are in awe at how perfect the timing of everything turned out to be.

Here is another picture of Luke with his birth father, uncle, and aunt. As you can tell, his aunt was extremely emotional. She couldn't stop touching Luke and staring at him.

Here's another picture of the Korean luncheon that we enjoyed together. Can you believe all the plates of food? This is just the beginning. Whenever one plate of food was emptied, another plate was brought out to replace it.

This is Luke's birth father urging me to eat more. Of course we couldn't communicate very well because of the language barrier, but his meaning was clear. It was hard for me to explain that the food was so foreign to me that it was difficult for me to try it. Once he saw that I liked the beef and the noodles, he kept cutting up beef for me and ordering more noodles for me to eat.

Here's a picture of Joy, the interpreter, and Mrs. Yoo. We will remain forever grateful to these two women for reuniting Luke with his birth family.

Here's a picture of us outside the restaurant. We realized later that we don't have any pictures of just Luke and his birth father. His birth father kept urging me to join them in every picture.

Here is one last picture of us with Luke's birth family.
